LOCATION

We are situated in the small village of Alcantarilha Gare, and a 3 minute walk down the hill from the villa brings you to the railway station, on the local branch line. There is also a small bar/restaurant and a local cafe.

The village is surrounded by  hundreds of acres of orange trees. A walk through the orange groves is a few mins from Spokes. At blossom time the air is full of the essence of orange.

RAILWAY STATION

The rail station is on the local Algarve branch line which runs from the border with Spain in the East to Lagos in the West. There are only a few trains a day so timing trips is important. To connect with the express trains to Lisbon is only 15 mins  ride to Tunes. Faro is about 1 hr and the station there is a 10 euro ride from the airport.

The train is a fun, cheap way of visiting Faro (journey time 1 hour, the station is close to the Old Town), Portimao (journey time 20 minutes) and Lagos (rail station next to the marina, a 5 minute walk to the town centre). One stop before Lagos is Meia Praia, the lovely beach with a couple of restaurants and a 40 minute stroll along the boardwalk through to Lagos itself if you are feeling energetic!).

Unfortunately the train has no facilities for the disabled.
